Welcome to the New School Year

2015 v1 ExportWelcome to the new school year and an especially warm welcome to all the new pupils and staff. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the Grayston pupils and their families a happy and successful 2015. I trust that you will soon feel part of the Grayston community and enjoy the warmth and family atmosphere which permeates the school.

On a staffing note, John Huggett assumes the role of Deputy Head: Student Affairs. Dumisani Kunene joins the staff as a Grade 7 Social Science and Grade 5 Natural Science and class teacher, Jessie Sibanda joins the Social Science department teaching in Grade 4, 5 & 6. Carly Sarembock joins the languages department as the Grade 4 English teacher. Sadi Page joins the Junior Prep as a Grade 2 Class Teacher. Sarah Stewart and Lebogang Ngakane join the Pre-Prep as intern teachers. I look forward to the contribution that these new staff members will bring to Grayston Prep.

We are privileged to begin the year with a celebration of excellent matric results. The class of 2009 achieved new standards for our school, and their group and individual achievements are exceptional. I congratulate them on their success, which was the outcome of their aspirations, determination and assiduity. I also extend congratulations to high school and prep school teachers who dedicate themselves to achieving excellence in teaching and learning.

The common goals shared by teachers and pupils at Grayston, together with an environment that is conducive to learning, have resulted in this significant achievement and should continue to ensure a consistently high academic standard. However, a school should never become complacent. It is our responsibility to ensure that our pupils are equipped to succeed in their secondary studies. Grayston Prep will continue to strive to achieve excellence in education, and to provide an environment where its pupils can achieve a meaningful and recognised education.
