Senior Prep Notices 27 November 2015

Talking about the NEWSThank you: We would like to thank all our parents for the support offered to the children and the staff this year. We would not manage without you!

Afternoon Collection: We remind parents that there will be no co-curricular activities or supervised homework next week. Please collect your children at the end of the school day. Children who are not collected by 13:35 each day will be sent to aftercare.

Birthday Books:  We wish all our December babies a very happy birthday and thank them for their donations of books to the school library.

Let the Grade 7 children Wait On You:1 December 2015 (Pre-Prep and Junior Prep) join the Grade 7 children at the Spur for their Outreach Fundraising Event. Bring your family along to the Morning Glen Spur and enjoy a meal with our Grade 7 waiters. All proceeds from each meal will be donated to the school. Grayston’s Outreach Committee will be using these funds for the five schools in Diepsloot. Because this evening is so popular, please try and let as many families as possible eat between 18:00 and 20:30 (only these bills count towards the fund-raising). If you have finished your meal or see a queue forming, please be considerate and give up your table or share, so as to get as many families through the restaurant as possible.

Senior Prep Prizegiving: The Grade 4 & Grade 5 Prizegiving will be held on Tuesday, 1 December at 18:30 and the Grade 6 & Grade 7 Prizegiving will be held on Thursday, 3 December at 18:30 in the John Sounes hall. It is a compulsory event for children where each child will be receiving a personalised certificate on the night. Seating will be on a first come, first served basis. All children need to please meet in their classrooms at 18:15, dressed in their summer uniform with no blazers and no jerseys. Senior Prep artwork will be on display in the hall and we hope you all have a chance to view some of the children’s creative work. Tea, coffee and snacks will be served in the pavilion.

Interhouse Gala: This gala will take place on Wednesday, 2 December at 09:00. It is a compulsory event for all children from Grade Three to Grade Seven and every child will swim in at least one race. We anticipate being finished by approximately 12:45 whereupon children may go home if their parents are in the audience. Alternatively, they will be supervised until the close of school at 13:10. Please send a packed lunch for your child as well as bottled water since we believe that there is to be no water available in Sandton on that day. We will, however, manage since the borehole water will be diverted for flushing toilets.

Class Lists 2016: The class lists for 2016 will be displayed in the vicinity of the school hall at the close of day on Thursday, 3 December. Please note that we are introducing a new school operating system in 2016 and so, for ease of convenience, the classes will now be named as A, B, C or D rather than by teacher initial. The classes are still heterogeneously composed and are not streamed in any way.

Spring Term Reports: These will be handed to the children on Friday, 4 December. Should your child not be at school on Friday for some reason, the report may be collected from Reception during the holidays.

Final Assembly: The final assembly of 2015 will take place at 10:30 on Friday, 4 December in the John Sounes Hall and school will close at 11:00 for the December holidays. There will be no aftercare on Friday afternoon. We wish you all a restful holiday and look forward to seeing you all again on Wednesday, 13 January when the Summer Term commences.
