Senior Prep Notices 19 May 2017

Cycle Tests: For Grades Four to Seven are in full swing and the children seem to be have made a smooth transition into the second term and are coping admirably with the busy schedule. The DEAR programme is also gaining momentum at school and we encourage parents to support this initiative and incorporate it into home activities for your children. All efforts, big or small, will contribute towards the attainment of success in our initiative.

Outside Co-Curricular Activities: Due to the hall, hall foyer and Marth’s Lawn being occupied for the Thinking Week starting on Monday, 22 May 2017 till Friday, 26 May 2017 the following will have alternative venues: ballet, Dance Mouse, Clamberclub and Karate.

Thank you: A special thank you to Morningside Shopping Centre for the wonderful sponsorship of the poster frames around campus. These will be put to great use.

School uniform: This is a reminder that the winter uniform is compulsory for all children. On very cold days, children have the option to wear the Grayston Prep scarf and gloves. We also ask parents to check, when your child leaves home in the morning, that he/she is not wearing inappropriate socks or other accessories that are not part of the Grayston Prep uniform.

FAMSA Talks: The FAMSA talks for parents will take place on Wednesday 24 May. The Grade Five Parent Talk will be at 5:30pm, followed by the Grades Six and Seven Parent Talk at 6:15pm. The talks will be held in the hall and we encourage all parents to attend this important course.

IEB MATCH Assessments: Our Grade Seven pupils will be writing the IEB (Independent Examinations Board) MATCH assessments on Wednesday 24 May. The acronym ‘MATCH’ stands for Measuring Abilities and Thinking Competencies for High School. There are two components to these assessments namely; testing of Mathematics and Language concepts as well as skills and application. The children do not need to study for these assessments and they have been informed of the requirements.

Lunchbox donations: We thank all those who participated in our drive for lunchbox donations last week. The response was phenomenal and we really appreciate your support in our outreach endeavours.

School assembly: Due to the Thinking Conference that will be hosted at our school next week, we have decided not have our normal school assembly next Friday. The next school assembly will be on Friday, 2 June.
