Roald Dahl Day – 10 September 2015

Roald Day DayThe Junior Prep celebrated the birthday of the world renowned children’s author, Roald Dahl, on 10 September in fine style. Ninety-nine years since his birth and his engaging use of language, his exciting stories and amazing characters are still enjoyed by adults and children alike. The playground was abuzz with excitement as The Witches, Oompaloompas, Charlie, Mr Willy Wonka, Fantastic Mr Fox, Matilda and a myriad other famous story book characters arrived at school in their droves. Roald Dahl would have been delighted to see the joy on the faces of the children as they participated in a variety of creative activities related to his books and even more delighted to witness the obvious pleasure they have taken in reading his books. Our thanks go to the parents who exercised their ingenuity to create the costumes for their children and for taking the time to READ his literary works with their children. The occasion was clear evidence of Dahl’s words, “Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it”.
