Grayston has 3 different grade levels in the pre prep department; from Grade 000 to Grade R. Class sizes vary according to grade and range form 16 to 24 children per class.

All activities are grade appropriate where we focus on each child's strengths and the building of their confidence in order to prepare them for the years ahead. Each grade programme differs in structure and task but they all have the same goal in mind. Teaching is fun, interactive and positive.

In order to allow for our children to receive the most holistic education possible our curriculum includes all 3 learning areas: Literacy, Numeracy and Life Skills. We follow a structured yet informal programme and follow a philosophy of learning through play.

Parental support and involvement is a key area. Parents are asked to assist in a number of areas within our daily programme. This includes taking children to the library and the reading of stories as well as assisting the teacher in the class during our puzzles and games mornings.

The Grade 00 and Grade R children are involved in our Care Bear programme where 2 to 3 children are assigned to a Grade 7 learner. This programme allows the pre-prep children to form relationships with our most senior children and look up to them as their mentor and friend. The Grade 7's in turn develop a better understanding of our youngest children.

There is a vast selection of co-curricular activities on offer. These include both sporting and arts activities. Most are organized through outside coaches and teachers and therefore come at an extra cost.
