Pre-Prep Notices Friday 28 July 2017

Head’s Coffee Morning: Head’s Coffee Morning: Many thanks to all the parents for attending the recent coffee morning and for providing constructive debate and discussion around the changes in the awards policy. We will now reflect on all the comments made and communicate back to the parent body next term. A copy of the presentation has been attached for parents who were unable to attend.

Winter Term ends: School closes on Friday, 4 August at 12:00 for the August holidays. We wish all our families a happy, restful holiday. Travel safely!

Grade 000

  • The children will continue their exploration of Into the Wild next week.
  • They will enjoy a ‘Movie Day’ on the last day of term (Friday, 4 August) and will watch Smurfs: Hidden Village. They are welcome to bring a snuggly blanket and teddy for the occasion.
  • This week, the children practised their spreading skills in baking.

Grade 00

  • The children are having such fun in their exploration of Dinosaurs. They practised their spreading skills during baking.
  • If you are able to assist us with ‘puzzles and games’ next term, please add your names to the rosters in the classrooms.

SPREADING
Ingredients:
Shaving cream
Foam blocks
Bowls
Plastic knives


Method:
1. Place the blocks in the middle of the table.
2. Fill a bowl with a shaving cream.
3. Give the child a knife and let him dip it into some foam and spread it on a block.
5. Allow him to stack as many blocks as he can.

Grade R

 

  • The theme of Space will continue until the end of term.
  • We learnt how to use cookie cutters during baking and practised this skill on play dough.
  • We will be introducing the letter Rr next week.
  • If you are able to assist us with ‘puzzles and games’ next term, please add your names to the rosters in the classrooms.
  • Grade RA requires old shoeboxes. Please deliver these to the classroom if you have any to spare.
  • The Cookie Day roster for next term will be distributed shortly.
  • This week, we made coconut ice in baking.

COCONUT ICE

Ingredients:
– Condensed milk
– Icing sugar
– Coconut
– Pink food colouring

Method:
1. Mix the icing sugar and condensed milk together.
2. Add the coconut and a little bit of pink food colouring to the mixture and mix until it is well combined.
3. Roll the coconut ice into little balls and leave to set in the fridge for about an hour.
