Pre-Prep Notices Friday, 14 July 2017

Head’s Coffee Morning: Parents are invited to join Mrs Ché McKay on Wednesday, 26 July at 07:15 in the school hall to hear about the changes to the awards policy for 2018 and the motivation behind this change. Please email nicolel@graystonprep.co.za for catering purposes should you wish to attend this function.

67 Minutes for Mandela: We encourage all Grayston families to support our Mandela Day drive. We ask that, leading up to the 18 July, you spend 67 minutes of your time clearing out your bookshelves and sending any books that you have read but no longer need to school. These books may be suitable for all ages (from toddlers to adult) and will be donated to the Kwena Basin Community Library, a trust that we have supported for many years. Books may be delivered to Reception. We will also be collecting new or well-loved blankets. Banablankets will be on sale in the pavilion and at the entrances to the school.

Grade 000

  • Next week’s theme is Into the Wild.
  • We made Sprinkled Biscuits during baking this week.
  • We will be needing pieces of polystyrene or florist’s oasis for our next Project Based Learning experience and would be most appreciative if parents are able to donate any of these items.

Grade 00

  • The theme of Weather and the Seasons will continue next week.
  • The children made Sprinkled Biscuits during this week’s baking session.
  • Please remember that Anna Schoeman and Luke Veliades are the bakers for Cookie Day on Monday, 17 July.

Sprinkled Biscuits

Ingredients

  • Marie biscuit
  • Coloured icing
  • ‘Hundreds and thousands’ (sprinkles)

Method

  • Take one biscuit.
  • Spread some icing on the biscuit with fingers.
  • Sprinkle some ‘hundreds and thousands’ on the biscuit.

Grade R

  • The children will be watching a movie at the ‘drive-in cinema’ while sitting in the ‘cars’ they have made on Monday, 17 July.
  • We will be introducing the letter Pp next week. Please encourage the children to bring items with the letter in their names for ‘show and tell’.
  • We will be venturing into Space during our next theme.
  • Nicholas Mallen, Alyssa Naicker and Kieran Naidoo are our bakers on Monday, 17 July.
  • The children focused on table setting and table etiquette last week. This week, they enjoyed a fine dining experience of yummy smash and veggie fingers while seated at the tables which they set.
