Pre Prep Notices 24 June 2016

Pre Prep Dad's Day

Pre Prep Dads’ Day: Thank you to the dads who joined us last Tuesday. We hope that you enjoyed the time spent with your children as much as they did. Many thanks to the Pre Prep and Physical Education staff for running the event so smoothly.

Exeat Weekend: School closes at the normal time on Friday, 1 July and reopens on Monday, 11 July. We trust that you will enjoy a relaxing mid-term break.

Themes: Next week, Grade 000 and Grade 00 will continue exploring The Farm and Space and Science respectively. The Grade R children will be investigating Transport.

Grade R Information: Our new letter is Oo. Please send objects with this letter in their names for ‘show and tell’. Children are encouraged to revise naming and writing the letters Aa to Nn and to practise counting up to fifteen actual objects as well as forwards from 1 to 20 and backwards from 15 to 1.

Cookie Day: Our bakers for Monday, 27 June are Cole Padayachee, Hayden Price and Reba Mmutlana.

PP Bike Day: This much anticipated event will take place on Friday, 1 July. Children are invited to bring a bicycle, tricycle or scooter to school on that day. Please perk them along the wall on the Junior Prep playground. For safety reasons, it is essential that children bring their cycling helmets along.

Environmental Print: Grade R children are asked to collect logos related to petrol stations and motor cars to add to our collection of environmental print.

Help: The Grade R teachers are looking for recyclable materials – toilet roll innards, cereal boxes, plastic or polystyrene containers, ice-cream tubs. Please deliver your contributions to your class teacher.

Winter Term Reports: The children will be bringing their Winter Term Reports home on Friday, 1 July. We  ask that you complete the reply slip and return it to school on Monday, 11 July to acknowledge receipt of your child’s report. Should you wish to discuss anything arising from the report, please contact the class teacher to make an appointment at a mutually convenient time.

Early Morning Drop Off: We appeal to parents not to leave children unattended in the classrooms before 07:00 when the teaching assistants come on duty.

Congratulations: Congratulations to ex-Graystonian, Kate Christowitz, who has been selected to row for South Africa in the Rio Olympics. Kate started rowing in 2004 for St Mary’s where she discovered her talent and passion for the sport. We are very proud of her!
