Pre Prep Notices 20 May 2016

DSC_0152Themes: The Grade R children will be venturing into the land of make-believe during their forthcoming theme of Once Upon a Time. The Grade 00 children will continue their study of Transport and our little ones in Grade 000 will learn about Water Transport and Pirates.

Grade R Letter of the Week: Our new letter is Ll. Please encourage your children to bring objects or pictures to school which have this letter in their names. We ask that you revise the letters Aa to Kkj as well as the numerals 1 – 12 at home.

Grade R Task: The Grade R children are asked to be on the lookout for grocery shop logos which can be brought to school to add to our collection of environmental print.

Grade RC: Ms Jacobs will place the rosters for ‘puzzles and games’ and library duties on the classroom noticeboard.

Pre Prep Mums’ Brunch: What a wonderful morning was enjoyed by the mums and teachers who attended this function last Saturday! Our thanks go to the class mums for all their efforts in arranging the event and to the sponsors for the many prizes.

Netball Champs: Please be advised that this co-curricular activity will move to a Monday from 12:45 to 13:30. The cost is R850 for 10 lessons and parents can obtain more information by emailing or

Movie Afternoon: The Grade 7 Care Bears and the Pre-Prep cubs from Grade 00 and Grade R will be getting together for a special movie afternoon on the 24 June from 14:00 until 16:00 in the hall. It’s time to snuggle into a pillow and warm blanket and enjoy some much needed downtime. The cost will be R50 per child and includes a hotdog, popcorn and juice. The children will be cared for by the Care Bears under the supervision of teachers. Please save the date and we will send reply slips closer to the time.

Lost Property: Isabella Akeroyd has lost her gillet which is labelled.

Help: We are collecting empty spray bottles – the ones with removable screw lids, nozzles and handles (like the Windowlene ones).

Author Visit: Susie Dinneen, a well-known South African children’s author will be visiting Grayston on Friday, 10 June to read her latest book, Nombulelo and the Moth, to our Pre Prep children. This book will be on sale to the children and, to avoid disappointment on the day, we are taking orders prior to the occasion. Should you wish to purchase a copy for your child, please enclose R100 in an envelope marked with his/her name and hand it to the class teacher by no later than Thursday, June.

Grayston Carnival: It’s Carnival Time again on Saturday, 11 June 2016. Please join us for a fantastic, fun day out for the whole family! There will be Interhouse football and netball, games stalls with prizes, a wide variety of inflatables and lots of yummy food, drinks and hot coffee. Armbands are already on sale from the Grayston Cafe for R120.00 which includes inflatables and game stallsPlease email should you have any queries.

Annual General Meeting (AGM): The AGM will be held on Monday the 30th May at 18:00 in the hall. All parents are encouraged to attend this meeting.
