Pre Prep Notices 18 February 2016

DSC_0229Themes: Next week, the Grade R and the Grade 000 children will investigate My Home and My Family while the Grade 00 children will learn about People Who Help Us.

World Read Aloud Day: This worldwide event will take place on Wednesday, 24 February and the children from Grade 000 to Grade 3 will participate in Nal’ibali, the national reading-for-enjoyment campaign. We will be reading the story of Neo and the Big Wide World to the children, they will participate in follow-up activities and each child will decorate and wear his/her own badge in recognition of the day. We encourage you to reinforce the message of the day by chatting to them about the story and to make a special effort to read a story aloud to your children on that day (and every day!). After all, ‘A reading nation is a thriving nation. Let us read to our children so that we may all live happily ever after.’ (Yvonne Chaka Chaka Read Aloud Day Ambassador).

Grade 000 Sensory Day: It is the turn of Grade 000 to roll, splash and play in all sorts of substances on Friday, 26 February. They should come to school dressed in old clothes and bring their uniforms to change into afterwards.

Grade R Letter of the Week: We will be revising the recognition and formation of the letters Aa to Ee next week and ask that you do the same at home.

Grade R Mums’ and Dads’ Tea Party: This fantasy play tea party will take place on Friday, 26 February during the school morning. The children will be the ‘mums’ and ‘dads’ and will act out a tea party. Please help them to dress up like a ‘mum’ or ‘dad’ in adult-like clothing for the occasion.

Co-curricular Activities: We request that you liaise directly with the providers of the co-curricular activities in which you have enrolled your children.

Exeat Weekend: School closes for the midterm break at 12:00 on Thursday, 18 February and the children will return on Tuesday, 23 February at 07:30. We hope that you and your children will enjoy the mini-break and return refreshed for the second half of the Summer Term.

Mid Term Holiday Club: Friday, 19 February 2016 bring your children for a fun day out for Arts and Crafts, a Movie and Ice Cream. On Monday, 22 February 2015 The farmyard will be coming to visit. Attendance for Option 1 aftercare kids is free and for all other Grayston children R140.00.
