Pre Prep Notices 15 June 2016

DSC_0711Pre Prep Dads’ Day: To celebrate Fathers’ Day, we invite all our dads to spend an hour or two with their children on Tuesday, 21 June from 07:30 to 09:30. You will be taking a trip around the world in the Grayston version of the AMAZING RACE so do come dressed in comfortable clothes. The children will be grouped in such a way that siblings will be together so that there is no need for dads to split themselves in two (or three!). Please ensure that the Grade 000 children arrive at school by 07:30 on this day so that they do not miss out on the fun!

Long Weekend: Thursday, 16 June is Youth Day and Friday, 17 June is a school holiday. Aftercare will be closed on Friday, 17 June 2016.

Heating Issues: Unfortunately due to the boiler being broken the children may bring an extra jersey or blanket to school to keep warm until the boiler has been repaired.

Themes: Next week, Grade 000 are to be found On the Farm. The themes of Once Upon a Time in Grade R and Space and Science in Grade 00 will continue.

Grade R Information: Our new letter is Nn. Please send objects with the letter Nn in their names for ‘show and tell’. Children are encouraged to revise naming and writing the letters Aa to Mm and to practise counting forwards from 1 to 20 and backwards from 15 to 1.

Cookie Day: Our bakers for Monday, 20 June are Kwesi Kalibo, Thomas McGregor, Payton Pietersen, Devanan Martin, Aashi Lalloo, Christopher Martins.

Movie Afternoon: The Grade 7 Care Bears and the Pre-Prep cubs from Grade 00 and Grade R will be getting together for a special movie afternoon on Friday, 24 June from 14:00 until 16:00 in the hall. It’s time to snuggle into a pillow and warm blanket and enjoy some much needed downtime. The cost will be R50 per child and includes a hotdog, popcorn and juice. The children will be cared for by the Care Bears under the supervision of teachers. If you would like your child to participate in this ‘get-together’, please send R50 in a sealed envelope marked with your child’s name and ‘MOVIE’ to the class teacher.

Help: Grade R children are asked to collect logos related to petrol stations to add to our collection of environmental print.

Library: We are very fortunate to enjoy the assistance of parents who take the Grade R children to the library once a week to exchange their books and listen to a story. Unfortunately, some of the children are not according these parents the necessary respect and are misbehaving during this time. We would appreciate it if you would chat to your children about respectful , appropriate behaviour so that we do not have to withdraw the privileges of some of them.

Winter Term Reports: The children will be bringing their Winter Term Reports home on Friday, 1 July. We  ask that you complete the reply slip and return it to school on Monday, 11 July to acknowledge receipt of your child’s report. Should you wish to discuss anything arising from the report, please contact the class teacher to make an appointment at a mutually convenient time.
