Pre-Prep Notices 11September2015

Community ValueWelcome: We welcome all our parents and children back for the last stretch of 2015 and hope that you enjoyed a restful holiday.

Cookie Day: The bakers for Monday, 14 September are Shahil Nathoo, Hugo Price-Hughes and Natalie Van Hoven.

Themes: We encourage children to share objects, books or other artefacts that are related to the classroom themes at our weekly ‘show and tell’ sessions. Next week, the Grade R children will be investigating The Garden, the Grade 00 classes will be looking at Reptiles, Insects and Birds and our little Grade 000 people will be taking a dive Under the Sea.

Volunteers needed: The teachers would appreciate the assistance of any willing parents to help with the weekly ‘puzzles and games’ and library sessions. Please let the teacher know if you are available.

Grade R Letter of the Week: Next week’s letter is Uu. Please send in items or pictures related to this letter. We encourage the children to practise naming and forming the letters Aa to Tt.

Spring Fling Picnic: On Friday, 18 September we will be holding a Spring Fling Picnic to celebrate the change of season. Please send the usual packed lunch and a picnic blanket.

Go for Green: Starting on Friday, 18 September, we will be supporting our national rugby team in its bid to bring the World Cup home. Children should wear their normal uniforms but replace the school shirt with a green shirt every Friday … hopefully until we reach the final!

Help: We are collecting clean used toothbrushes and ice-cream tubs with lids and would appreciate your assistance in this endeavour. Ms Podersoo is also looking for games such as Snakes and Ladders, Bingo and packs of cards that you might no longer be using at home.

Prayer Meetings: All staff, parents and children are welcome to join us on Tuesday mornings from 7am to 7:30am to pray for our school. We currently meet in the Aftercare room. For more information please contact Amy Quiding on 082 418 2465 / or Nina Pearse 072 609 7757 / .

Construction: The senior prep bathroom renovation is nearing completion and will be fully functional by Monday next week. The library is showing pleasing progress and we should be able to move into the labs in the next week. The library should open again in early October. The initial layout for the JP Kids Club centre has been marked out in the Junior Prep playground. Construction of the facility will occur during the term.
