Pre Prep Notices 10 June 2016

DSC_0215Carnival Day: Tomorrow is Carnival Day. We hope to see our Pre Prep families at school supporting the older children as they play in the Interhouse Netball/Football matches. There will be fun galore for the little ones to keep them busy – inflatables to play on and food galore!

Pre Prep Dads’ Day: To celebrate Fathers’ Day, we invite all our dads to spend an hour or two with their children on Tuesday, 21 June from 07:30 to 09:30. You will be taking a trip around the world in the Grayston version of the AMAZING RACE so do come dressed in comfortable clothes. The children will be grouped in such a way that siblings will be together so that there is no need for dads to split themselves in two (or three!).

Long Weekend: Thursday, 16 June is Youth Day and Friday, 17 June is a school holiday. We hope that you manage to enjoy a little rest and relaxation with your families.

Themes: Next week, the theme of Pets will continue in Grade 000, as will Once Upon a Time in Grade R. Grade 00 will venture into the realms of Space and Science.

Grade R Letter of the Week: Please revise naming and forming the letters Aa to Mm with your children. Children are encouraged to bring objects with the letter Mm in their names for ‘show and tell’.

Cookie Day: Our bakers for Monday, 13 June are Senate Taso, Luca Phillips and Mishka Mahida.

Movie Afternoon: The Grade 7 Care Bears and the Pre-Prep cubs from Grade 00 and Grade R will be getting together for a special movie afternoon on Friday, 24 June from 14:00 until 16:00 in the hall. It’s time to snuggle into a pillow and warm blanket and enjoy some much needed downtime. The cost will be R50 per child and includes a hotdog, popcorn and juice. The children will be cared for by the Care Bears under the supervision of teachers. If you would like your child to participate in this ‘get-together’, please send R50 in a sealed envelope marked with your child’s name and ‘MOVIE’ to the class teacher.

Help: Mrs Nicholson is looking for ice-cream containers please. These can be delivered to her classroom.

Lunchboxes: We would appreciate it if you could peel naartjies and oranges at home before packing them in the children’s lunchboxes. Peeling 24 of these fruits at a time becomes an arduous task for teachers as you can imagine.

Lost Property: The lost property boxes are overflowing with unclaimed items. We are looking at a new ‘zero tolerance’ policy regarding lost property since we believe that children are being irresponsible about the care of their possessions. This will be communicated to you shortly.
