Pre Prep Notices 06 April 2017

Grandparents’ Tea Party: The children have been hard at work preparing for this event which will take place on Wednesday, 12 April from 10:30 until 12:00 noon. We would appreciate it if our guests could be seated by 10:20. Please note that the Pre Prep children will be sitting on stands on the hall floor in front of the stage. We suggest, therefore, that their grandparents find seats in the gallery so that they look down on the children. After the entertainment in the hall, the children and their guests will have tea together in the Pre Prep playground. With your permission, the children are welcome to go home with their guests. School will close at 12:00 for the holidays but aftercare will function as usual.

Library Books: Please return all library books if you have not already done so.

Respect for the Property of Others: Please remind the children that, if something does not belong to them, they may not take it.

Break up day: Please note that school will close at 12:00 on Wednesday 12 April. We wish all our families a restful holiday. The school will re-open on Wednesday 3 May for all children.

April Holiday Care: Come and have fun at the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Holiday Care. Activities include chocolate fountain, rock candy making, biscuit tea cups, candy decorating with condensed milk paint and much more. Looking forward to seeing you all there. Please note Holiday Care will be closed on all Public Holidays and Friday, 28 April 2017.

Grade 000

  • The Grade 000 children will continue their exploration of Shapes next week.
  • Alexander Papazian has mislaid his book bag and library book. Please check that these have not found themselves into the wrong bag in error.

Grade 00

  • The Grade 00 children have had a ‘jaw-dropping’ experience while learning about sharks in preparation for their project.
  • The ‘puzzles and games’ rosters will be on display in the classrooms next week. We invite parents to volunteer their services for one or more slots during the Winter Term.

Grade R

  • The Grade R children have thoroughly enjoyed their ‘travels around the world’ so far and we hope that they have been sharing their experiences with you.
  • We are delighted to be hosting Refiloe Moahloli, author of How Many Ways Can You Say Hello?, on Tuesday, 16 May 2017 at 10h00. This delightful story of rhyming verse, accompanied by charming illustrations, is a must for all young South African children, and if parents / grandparents / carers aren’t sure how to pronounce ‘hello’ in all 11 official languages, there is a CD of the text, narrated by the author herself, to guide with authentic pronunciation. If you would like your child to have a personalized, signed copy of the book, please complete the order form that was sent home in hard copy on Wednesday and return it in a sealed envelope, together with the money, to the class teacher by Thursday, 4 May.
  • We will be revising the letters Aa to Ii next week.
  • The ‘puzzles and games’ and ‘library’ rosters are on display in the classrooms. We invite parents to volunteer their services for one or more slots during the Winter Term.
