Pre Prep Notices 01 July 2016

Pre Prep Movie Afternoon

Exeat Weekend: School closes at the normal time on Friday, 1 July and reopens on Monday, 11 July. We trust that you will enjoy a relaxing mid-term break.

Holiday Care: A week of fun, a week of play, a week of sunshine all day! Bring your children for a day of fun at our Holiday Care. Snacks, lunch and drinks will be provided. Attendance for option 1 aftercare kids is free. R140 per day for all other Grayston children. Looking froward to seeing you there. Time: 07h30 – 17h30.

Movie Day: The Grade R and Grade 00 children had a wonderful time with their Care Bears last Friday afternoon. Our thanks go to the staff, parents and Grade 7 children for their efforts.

Magic of Music: Thank you to all who contributed to making the Magic of Music a resounding success this year.  Dot Office made a generous donation to the Johannesburg Children’s Home, and the donations toward programmes over the two nights. We are proud to have made this charitable donation possible.

Themes: When we return on 11 July, the Grade 000 will venture Into the Wild and the Grade 00 classes will explore Weather and the Seasons. The Grade R children continue their investigation of Transport.

Grade R Information: Children are encouraged to revise naming and writing the letters Aa to Oo.

Cookie Day: Our bakers for Monday, 11 July are Sian Le Grange, Molemi Monene and Kytara Moodley.

Help: We are looking for recyclable materials – toilet roll innards, cereal boxes, plastic or polystyrene containers, ice-cream tubs, bottle tops. Please deliver your contributions to your class teacher.

Winter Term Reports: The children will be bringing their Winter Term Reports home today. We  ask that you complete the reply slip and return it to school on Monday, 11 July to acknowledge receipt of your child’s report. Should you wish to discuss anything arising from the report, please contact the class teacher to make an appointment at a mutually convenient time.

Hats: In the interests of skin protection, the children are expected to wear their hats for all outside activity at school. Please ensure that your children have their hats at school every day (and that these are labelled) since the ‘no hat, no play’ rule is strictly enforced. We would also appreciate it if you could check that your children have not brought someone else’s hat home by mistake.

67 Minutes for Mandela: We encourage all Grayston families to support our Mandela Day drive. We ask that, leading up to 18 July, you spend 67 minutes of your time clearing out your bookshelves and sending any books that you have read but no longer need to school. These books may be suitable for all ages (from toddlers to adult) and will be donated to the Kwena Basin Community Library, a trust that we have supported for many years. Books may be delivered to Reception. We will also be collecting new or well-loved blankets. Banablankets will be on sale in the pavilion. These blankets are made by an organisation in Alexandra Township, by unemployed women. There will be different sizes available and you were welcome to purchase a blanket and donate it towards our Diepsloot initiative.
