Condolences: We extend our sincere condolences to Ms Jacobs and her family on the passing of their beloved dad.

Staff News: Mrs Buck will be on maternity leave during the last term. Class music will be taken by Mrs Lilian Figueredo in her absence. Congratulations to Ms Macnab who is to be married to Greg Kronson next week. We wish them all the best for a happy future.

Happy Holidays: We wish all our families a happy, restful holiday and a safe return on Tuesday, 5 September.

Class Photographs: These will be taken on Thursday and Friday, 7 and 8 September.

Sport: On 7 September the Junior hockey children will be taking part in the Dainfern hockey festival. The festival will run for one day and will start at 16h00 and end at 20h00. More information regarding teams will be posted on the school website next week.

Chilloes: It’s Chilloes time again! Get ready for summer and show off those toes. All the children have been given an order form to order this season’s slops. The form can be returned after the holiday to your class teacher. Extra forms are available from the uniform shop. All money must be enclosed in an envelope with your order form and labelled with your child’s name and class. Please ensure you specify whether the sandals are adult or children sizes. Buy your snazzy fashion items for your family or as a “holiday season gift”.

Outreach: Many thanks to everyone that donated books and blankets on Mandela Day. A substantial amount of books will be going to Kwena Basin to the reading project in the area.

Blankets and children’s books were also donated to Cotlands and Hotelhope Orphange. Some of the blankets went to the Alexander Disaster Management collection at the Sandton fire station.

Many thanks for the baby products that were donated, these were delivered to the Refilwe Community Project this week. Along with the donations the Grade 7s created teaching resources during their 67 minutes for Mandela Day and these were handed over to the school in the area.

The Grade 6s have focused on animal shelters and looking after both domestic and wild animals this term. They have been collecting pet products which will be donated to a shelter in the third term. Many thanks for all your donations.

We would like to thank Grayston community for their continued commitment and dedication to Outreach and look forward to another wonderful term of serving our community.

Reading Challenge: The children will all have brought home a reading challenge for the holidays. We would appreciate it if you would support them in their endeavours to read for a minimum of 20 minutes every day!

Reminder: Grade Two children are reminded to return their reply slips for the outing to the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens by 5 September.
