Junior Prep Notices Friday 23 June 2017

Exeat Week: We wish the Grayston family a happy, restful Exeat Week and look forward to having you back on Monday, 3 July at 07:30.

Winter Term Reports: The children will be bringing their Winter Term Reports home today, Friday, 23 June. These will show the progress your children have made in the first six months of the year. We would appreciate it if you would sign and return the reply slip on Monday, 3 July. Should you wish to discuss any concerns you have related to the reports, please contact the class teacher to make an appointment.

Midterm Kids Club Holiday Programme: Please click here to view our exciting June holiday care programme.

Holiday Clinics: There will be a number of sport clinics and workshops on offer at Grayston Prep during the June midterm. Please visit the sports fixtures page on the Grayston website to view the holiday clinics on offer, or alternatively or click here.

Grayston Carnival: It’s carnival time again on Saturday, 08 July. The PA will be selling armbands for R120 every Wednesday and Friday morning at the top and bottom gate.

There will be compulsory interhouse netball and football for all Grade One to Seven children. Children should please wear their house t-shirts or t-shirts in the colour of their Grayston houses. Soccer players need to wear Grayston navy shorts, Grayston soccer socks and shin pads. Netball players may wear either Grayston skorts or Grayston navy shorts.

The Yale Whiffenpoofs: The Whiffenpoofs are visiting Grayston Prep on Saturday, 15 July. Please save the date as it’s one not to be missed! The Whiffenpoofs are the world’s oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella group and are the seniors to the Yale Spizzwinks, who are all undergrads. Tickets cost R120 for adults, R70 for children. Soup and a roll are included in the price and seating is on a first come first served basis. The PA will be selling tickets every Wednesday and Friday after midterm, at the top and bottom gates.

Grayston Outreach: We would like to emphasize how very grateful we are for the children’s civvies day donations that were collected on Thursday, 15 June 2017. We were able to raise R3395. This and a further R10 000 was donated to Woodridge College and Oakhill School in Knysna. Our thoughts are with those who were devastated by the fires and we hope that this contribution can make a difference to the children in the area.

Read! Read! Read!: Please take the opportunity of the break to read to and with your children. There is nothing better than sitting in a warm room, hot chocolate in one hand, a storybook in the other and your child in your lap!

Grade One

The Grade Ones created timelines to show the development of transport. This led to some interesting discussions and an awareness of the changes that cars, ships and planes have undergone through the decades.

Grade Two

The children have had such fun exercising their creativity to create 3D salt dough animals as the culmination to their theme on Animals.

Grade Three

The Grade Threes have responded with wonderment and awe all the way along their journey from country to country. They are becoming seasoned ‘travellers’ and look forward to seeing more of the world after midterm.
