Junior Prep Notices 6 April 2017

Grandparents’ Tea Party: The children have been hard at work preparing for this function which will take place on Wednesday, 12 April from 10:30 until 12:00 noon. We would appreciate it if our guests could be seated by 10:20. After the entertainment in the hall, the children will take their guests to their classrooms where they will have tea together. With your permission, the children are welcome to go home with their guests. School will close at 12:00 for the holidays but aftercare will function as usual.

Library Books: Please return all outstanding library books.

Congratulations: We wish Ms Aimee Johnson all the best for her wedding day on Saturday and look forward to welcoming her back next term as Mrs Howard. Mrs Gill O’Connor will take care of Grade 1D for the last few days of term.

Author Visit: We are delighted to be hosting Refiloe Moahloli, author of How Many Ways Can You Say Hello?, on Tuesday, 16 May 2017 at 10h00. She will be reading this delightful story to our Grade R, Grade One and Grade Two children. It is a must for all young South African children, and if parents / grandparents / carers aren’t sure how to pronounce ‘hello’ in all 11 official languages, there is a CD of the text, narrated by the author herself, to guide with authentic pronunciation. If you would like your child to have a personalised, signed copy of the book, please complete the order form that was sent home in hard copy on Wednesday and return it in a sealed envelope, together with the money, to the class teacher by Thursday, 4 May.

Break up day: Please note that school will close at 12:00 on Wednesday 12 April. We wish all our families a restful holiday. The school will re-open on Wednesday 3 May for all children.

Final Assembly: Due to Grandparents’ Tea Party, the final assembly on Wednesday 12 April at 7:30 will only be for Senior Prep children.

April Holiday Care: Come and have fun at the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Holiday Care. Activities include chocolate fountain, rock candy making, biscuit tea cups, candy decorating with condensed milk paint and much more. Looking forward to seeing you all there. Please note Holiday Care will be closed on all Public Holidays and Friday, 28 April 2017.

Grade One: Excitement is running high in Grade One as the children prepare surprise gifts for their guests.

Grade Two: The Grade Twos have been learning about money and capacity. They have had great fun estimating how much liquid containers can hold and are getting better and better at this skill!

Grade Three: The Grade Threes have embarked on a project-based learning experience and have taken the challenge of teaching the school rules to the Grade Ones very seriously indeed. They are busy researching and interviewing experts on the topic and we are looking forward to seeing what their responses to the challenge are.
