Staff News: We bid farewell to Ms Paula Staples who leaves us on Tuesday. She will be joining her fiance in Botswana where they will be running a game lodge. We thank her for the contribution she has made to Grayston and wish her well in her new venture.

Concert: The Junior Prep will be staging Alice in Wonderland on the evenings of Monday 1, Tuesday 2 and Thursday 4 August. Every child from Grade One to Grade Three will take part in the concert and will be part of the cast on all three nights. Please diarise the dates and keep an eye out for the sale of tickets which will begin after the midterm break. Details will be supplied closer to the time.

Concert Costumes: The costumes that we are hiring have been delivered and we need every child to bring a coat hanger on which to hang his/her costume. Your school account will be debited to the amount of R110-00 at the end of May to cover the cost of your child’s costume.

Maths Mornings: The second and third of our Maths Mornings will take place on Monday, 30 May and Tuesday, 31 May. If you have not already booked your place, please do so by adding your CHILD’S NAME to the list on the classroom window. The places are available on a first come, first served basis. Your children are looking forward to showing you how they learn Maths!

Supervised Homework: If your children attend supervised homework, it is imperative that they bring their readers and homework books with them. Should you wish to do the weekly ‘response to reading’ task with them at home, please send the class teacher notification of this. They are expected to do their daily reading which you are welcome to listen to again if you would like to do so.

Lost Property: The lost property boxes are overflowing with unclaimed items. We are looking at a new ‘zero tolerance’ policy regarding lost property since we believe that children are being irresponsible about the care of their possessions. This will be communicated to you shortly. In the meanwhile, please claim any lost items from the boxes on the Grade One corridor. Brad Biggs is missing a Wilson tennis racquet from Tuesday 24 May 2016. It has his name on it, if found please take it to Reception.

Sports Transport: When transporting children home after a sports fixture please ensure you have informed the coach which children will be traveling with you and not using school transport.

Blanket Drive: More information regarding the Blanket drive will be communicated over the next few weeks.

Grayston Carnival: It’s Carnival Time again on Saturday, 11 June 2016. Please join us for a fantastic, fun day out for the whole family! There will be Interhouse football and netball, games stalls with prizes, a wide variety of inflatables and lots of yummy food, drinks and hot coffee. Armbands are already on sale from the Grayston Cafe for R120.00 which includes inflatables and game stallsPlease email pta@graystonprep.co.za should you have any queries.

Annual General Meeting (AGM): The AGM will be held on Monday the 30th May at 18h00 in the hall. All parents are encouraged to attend this meeting.
