Junior Prep Notices 23September2015

noticesMeet the Authors: Please diarise Thursday, 22 October (11:00 – 12:00). Our young authors will be displaying their literary masterpieces at that time and we hope that you will be able to spare the time to support their efforts. Details will follow shortly.

Go for Green: Despite our loss to Japan on Saturday, we will continue to support the Springboks in their bid to bring the World Cup home. Children should wear their normal uniforms but replace the school shirt with a green shirt every Friday … let’s hope for a resounding win against Samao this weekend!

Parent and Child Tennis Tournament: The annual Parent and Child Tennis Tournament will be held on Saturday morning, 17 October at 08:30 at the Grayston school tennis courts. We cordially invite our tennis playing children from Grade 3 to Grade 7 to enter (providing that they are able to serve and rally from the baseline) to enter this event with a parent or a substitute adult (grandparent, aunt or uncle, neighbour, coach, teenaged sibling). Movie Night and Camp Out: The Parents Association will be hosting a movie night and Camp Out on Saturday 10 October. The day will consist of the traditional camp out on the top field and a big screen movie. The movie for the evening is “Inside Out.” We request that parents bring a picnic type dinner and enjoy the night on the field, enjoying the movie with their family and friends, and then enjoy an evening of camping on the field. The cost for the movie night and camp out is R100 per family including popcorn and tickets for the evening will go on sale in reception from Monday. Please note that there will be no braais or gas fires, as these require a fire marshall on the site. Parking will be available on the bottom fields from 14:30 on the day and no vehicles will be allowed on the top field after 15:30. We look forward to enjoying the afternoon and evening together.

Car Park Safety: Car-jamming is on the rise, please ensure you physically check the doors and boot to make sure your car is locked. Your valuables should not be visible and rather locked away in the boot of your car.

BYOD programme for 2016: Grade 5 to 7 children will be using iPad as their device in the BYOD programme for 2016. Th school are well down the road with the infrastructure and training demands for the programme launch in January next year. We will hold information sessions during the month of October to introduce the programme to the parents and pupils. We have sourced a number of eBooks for a umber of subjects for next year. Should you have to purchase a new device for your child for 2016, we recommend doing this soon as the pricing of device will increase due to exchange rate increases at the end of the month. The recommended device is a WiFi only iPad (iOS 8 or 9) preferably with 64GB memory.
