Junior Prep Notices 22 July 2016

DSC_0416Alice in Wonderland: The children have worked really hard and are looking forward to performing for you. A letter detailing the arrangements for the dress rehearsal and the three evening performances was sent home yesterday (Thursday) in hard copy. Please check that you are aware of times, venues, make-up requirements and so on to avoid any unnecessary stress. Should you have any queries, please contact Ms Johnson on lyndaj@graystonprep.co.za.

Concert DVD: We will be having a professional DVD made of the concert at the Monday evening performance. Copies of this can be ordered at a cost of R150 each. If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please send the order form to your child’s class teacher by Friday, 5 August. Please do not send any money to school – your account will be debited with the required amount.

Concert Photographs: Photographs of the concert will be taken at the dress rehearsal and displayed in the hall foyer on all three evenings. There will be order forms available should you wish to order copies of any of these. Please place your order forms in the box in the foyer by Friday, 5 August. Your account will be debited with the amount owing.

Interhouse Athletics: This event will take place at 09:00 on Thursday, 4 August and will be attended by all the children from Grade Three to Grade Seven. Children will be allowed to go home at the end of the meeting which we anticipate will be at about 12:30. The Grade Ones and Twos may also be collected from their classrooms at 12:30.

Orff Practice: There will be no early morning Orff practice for Grade 2 and grade 3 during the last week of school due to the Junior Prep concert.

Uniform: Please ensure that your children wear the long sleeved winter shirt rather than the summer shirt with a long vest beneath it.

Grade Two Collection: The Grade Twos are looking for small cardboard boxes (cereal and similar) and empty toilet roll tubes.

67 Minutes for Mandela: Thank you to all who contributed to our book and blanket drive. Once again, the Grayston Family has shown its generosity. If you have not yet done your 67 minutes in recognition of Mandela Day, you are welcome to still send in books and blankets to enrich the lives of others!

Outreach Committee: Please collect plastic bottle tops and bread tags. The bottle tops can be any size and any colour. There will be a “post box” in the pavilion, playgrounds, tuck shop and other walkways. Let’s see how many we can collect to support people in need.

Aftercare Appeal: The Aftercare Staff is busy preparing for the holiday programme. They are collecting empty Pringle tubes, plastic lids from furniture polish, insect spray and other aerosol cans as well as empty cereal and rusk boxes. Please deliver any of these items to the Junior Aftercare room.

Slipper Day: Slipper day is fun initiative that creates awareness for the “Reach For A Dream Foundation” whilst raising funds to make more dreams a reality for children fighting life threatening illnesses. In order to participate, all you need to do is buy a R10 sticker for your child to be able to wear their slippers to school on Friday 5th August 2016. Please place your orders through your child’s class teacher and stickers will be distributed on Thursday 4th August 2016.

Greeting Cards Final Orders: Please complete the order form by Monday, 25 July 2016  if you would still like to order the Anytime Greeting Cards or Calendar click here to complete the order form.  Only those who have completed the order form will receive, and be billed for, their printed cards. Please complete a separate order form for each child. The cost of your order will be billed to your Grayston account.

Holiday Care: Imagine being able to create fantastic toys that move up & down, have spinning propeller or open to reveal a secret private treasure. Now you can with “The Toymaker’s Workshop” taking place during the August Holidays from 10 August – 5 September 2016. No Aftercare will take place on 8 August 2016. Attendance for Option 1 aftercare kids is free and R200 for all other Grayston children with meals, snacks & art supplies included.
