Junior Prep Notices 18 February 2016

DSC_0208World Read Aloud Day: This worldwide event will take place on Wednesday, 24 February and the children from Grade 000 to Grade 3 will participate in Nal’ibali, the national reading-for-enjoyment campaign. We will be reading the story of Neo and the Big Wide World to the children, they will participate in follow-up activities and each child will decorate and wear his/her own badge in recognition of the day. We encourage you to reinforce the message of the day by chatting to them about the story and to make a special effort to read a story aloud to your children on that day (and every day!). After all, ‘A reading nation is a thriving nation. Let us read to our children so that we may all live happily ever after.’ (Yvonne Chaka Chaka Read Aloud Day Ambassador).

Grade One Appeal: The Grade Ones are in need of MANY CLEAN two-litre milk bottles. Please place these in the black bags on the covered verandah behind the Grade One classrooms. They also require egg boxes.

Grade Three Appeal: The Grade Three children are asked to collect a variety of cardboard boxes of all shapes and sized no larger than a cereal box.

Grade Three Physical Education: Grade Three children now have PE every Friday as well as Thursdays in Red Week and Tuesdays in Blue Week.

Grade One Swimming: Group 1 now swims on a Monday; Group 2 on a Tuesday (Red Week) and Friday (Blue Week); Group 3 on a Wednesday and Group 4 on a Thursday.

Painting Shirts: There are still many children who have not brought a large old t-shirt to be used as a cover-all for art lessons. Please assist us in this regard.

Birthday Books:  We wish all our January babies a very happy birthday and thank them for their donations of books to the school library.

Exeat Weekend: School closes for the midterm break at 12:00 on Thursday, 18 February and the children will return on Tuesday, 23 February at 07:30. We hope that you and your children will enjoy the mini-break and return refreshed for the second half of the Summer Term.

Mid Term Holiday Club: Friday, 19 February 2016 bring your children for a fun day out for Arts and Crafts, a Movie and Ice Cream. On Monday, 22 February 2015 The farmyard will be coming to visit. Attendance for Option 1 aftercare kids is free and for all other Grayston children R140.00.

Birthday Books:  We wish all our January babies a very happy birthday and thank them for their donations of books to the school library.
