Junior Prep Notices 12 April 2017

Grandparents’ Tea Party: What a wonderful morning the children had entertaining their grandparents and special guests, many of whom travelled from afar for this special occasion! Our thanks go to the teaching, support and tuck shop staff for their hard work in staging the event as well as to the mums who were such gracious hostesses.

Happy Holidays: We wish all our families a safe, relaxing holiday. We look forward to welcoming you back, rejuvenated, on Wednesday 3 May. We will start the new term on Day 2 of the school timetable.

April Holiday Care: Come and have fun at the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Holiday Care. Activities include chocolate fountain, rock candy making, biscuit tea cups, candy decorating with condensed milk paint and much more. Looking forward to seeing you all there. Please note Holiday Care will be closed on all Public Holidays and Friday 28 April 2017.

Holiday Safety on Campus: Please ensure children sign into all activities on campus during the holidays. Please take note of the start and end times of these activities as children may not be left unsupervised for health & safety reasons. Children dropped off at Kids Club holiday care before or after the starting time of an non kids club activity will be billed the kids club rates per a day. We appreciate your co-operation.

The Administration Department: The administration department will be closed from Tuesday, 18 April 2017 and will re-open on Tuesday, 2 May 2017.

Grayston Calendar: The Grayston calendar has been updated for Term 2. Please take note of these changes/updates.

Slipper Day: Friday, 12 May 2017  is Reach for a Dream’s Slipper Day. We would like to encourage each Grayston Prep child, and parent, to participate in Slipper Day by donating R10.00 for a Slipper Armband which allows the children to wear their slippers to school or wherever they would like to show off their furry footwear and support Reach For A Dream. Please hand your R10.00 to your class teacher by Wednesday, 10 May 2017.

Winter Uniform: By the time we return in May, the weather will probably have cooled sufficiently to warrant the children wearing winter uniform. Please take note of the following:

  • During the Winter Term, children are expected to wear their full tracksuits to assembly on a Friday morning.
  • Children are encouraged to wear their shorts under their tracksuit pants as, quite often, it becomes hot in the midday sun.
  • Sandals should be replaced with the black tackies and white ankle socks.
  • The long-sleeved winter shirt is available from the uniform shop. Children may not wear long-sleeved vests under their summer shirts.

Author Visit for Grade Ones and Grade Twos: Please remember that we will be hosting Refiloe Moahloli, author of How Many Ways Can You Say Hello?, on Tuesday, 16 May 2017 at 10:00. If you would like your child to have a personalised, signed copy of the book, please complete the order form that was sent home in hard copy and return it in a sealed envelope, together with the money, to the class teacher by Thursday, 4 May.

Grade Three Co-curricular Events: Grade Three parents are encouraged to consult the school calendar for the dates of the netball and football fixtures as well as the various Saturday Sporting Festivals which will take place next term. Team selections will be advertised as usual but you can plan ahead to some extent if you are aware of forthcoming events.

Lunch Box Drive: Please pack an extra lunch for someone in need on Friday 12 May. It should include a sandwich, a juice, a fruit and a treat in a container that you are willing to donate. It will make a hungry child’s life a little less hungry. Please drop off your lunch boxes in the Pavilion.
